A Burgundy wine tasting in Morey-Saint-Denis
An hour and a half with me in two family cellars: first the old one, where my grandfather's vintages are kept, then the tasting cellar, where we open six wines. €30 per person, two to eight guests.
The family museumIt starts underground
Before anything is poured, we go down into the family museum. My grandfather kept everything: bottles running from the sixties through the nineties, magnums, jeroboams and other large formats, and the tools he actually worked with.
I took the cellar over and fitted it out myself. Nothing grand: just what explains how a family ends up spending seven generations in the same village. This is where you get the history of the house, and of the people who lived in it.
Those old bottles stay exactly where they are. They are there to be looked at; some of them are over sixty years old.
Then we taste
The second cellar is the working one: cooler, cleaner, made for this. Six wines are waiting on the table: two whites and four reds, including three Premiers Crus and one Grand Cru.
Every one of them comes from a small family domaine I know personally. I buy their wine because I like it, and you probably won't know most of them by name.
We taste the six side by side. I explain where each parcel sits on the hillside, who farms it, and why the wine tastes the way it does. You don't need to know anything about wine to enjoy it, and you can ask me anything.
If you like a wine, you can take bottles home or have them shipped.
The tasting cellarDo I need to know about wine?
No. Some guests collect Burgundy, others are tasting it for the first time. I adapt to the group.
Which language is the tasting in?
English or French. Say which one you prefer when you book.
Can I buy the wines?
Yes, to take home or to ship. For every €500 of wine bought on the day, one tasting fee comes off the bill.
Can we book for a group or a special occasion?
Yes, up to eight guests. Book the slot as usual and mention it in the notes, or write to me first.
What if I need to cancel?
Cancel more than 48 hours before and you are refunded in full, from the link in your confirmation email.

The wines change with the seasons, the allocations and what is open in the cellar. The structure stays the same: two whites, four reds, three Premiers Crus, one Grand Cru.
The tasting is €30 a person. For every €500 of wine bought on the day, one of those fees comes off the bill: €500 covers one person, €1,000 covers two, and so on. It is calculated on the wine itself, before shipping.

Tastings are by appointment, seven days a week. Payment is handled by Stripe; Le Clos des Loups Wine never sees your card details.
For a small group, a celebration, or a visit built around what you already collect, tastings can be arranged privately. Book the slot as usual and say so in the notes, or write to me first.
Plans change. Cancel more than 48 hours before your tasting and you are refunded in full, from the link in your confirmation email. Inside 48 hours the bottles are chosen and the slot is gone, so the tasting is not refunded.
